AddiChat is dedicated to the wellbeing of our clients. We provide counselling, psychotherapy and eye movement desensitisation reprocessing (EMDR) therapy that is tailored to the needs of the individual and informed by ethical and best practice guidelines. 

Our services are particularly effective due to our emphasis on supporting clients using evidence-based approaches. We draw on current psychological knowledge to provide specialist support for those affected by addiction, anxiety, mood problems, personality and relationship difficulties.

Counselling Psychology and EMDR Therapy

We offer both short- and long-term counselling and psychotherapy. Many presentations allow for short-term therapy, typically up to 12 sessions but when working with compulsive behaviours, substance misuse and personality issues these may involve medium- to long-term therapy, usually 6 months plus. We also offer EMDR therapy.

Meet the team

Dr Ryan Card CPsychol DPsych AFBPsS
Counselling Psychologist and EMDR Practitioner
Specialising in addiction and dual diagnosis including anxiety, mood and personality disorders

Ryan first trained as an addiction counsellor at a private rehabilitation centre in 2006 and has since had over 15 years of experience working with addiction and dual diagnosis in a variety of settings, including private rehabilitation centres, prison services, charities and NHS community services, including specialist addictions services and community mental health teams (CMHT).

Ryan has a BA in psychological counselling, a PgDip in occupational psychology and a combined MSc and DPsych in counselling psychology. He has undergone additional training in solution-focused therapy through Brief training, dialectical behavioural therapy including mindfulness through British Isles DBT training, motivational interviewing and Yalom's model of interpersonal group psychotherapy and its application in treating addictions, delivered through Bath University. Ryan has also trained as an EMDR practitioner.

Ryan is committed to helping individuals process and understand various emotional and psychological difficulties that may be causing distress. He has experience working with addictions, anger, anxiety, bereavement, bipolar, depression, personality, obsessions and compulsions, self-harm and trauma.

He works integratively and draws on evidence-based interventions, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), compassion-focused therapy (CFT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) and mindfulness. He is also an EMDR therapist.
 
Ryan is a chartered member (CPsychol) and associate fellow (AFBPsS) of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Division of Counselling Psychology (DCoP). He is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). He is also a registered psychometrist with the BPS in occupational ability and personality testing using the 15-Factor Questionnaire Plus.

We also offer online and telephone counselling and psychotherapy. This means that busy people will be able to attend their sessions remotely from anywhere around the world. We currently provide this service over the phone, Skype, WhatsApp, Zoom and Teams.

Fees

We offer in-person, online, telephone and home visits.

 

Free initial telephone consultation: (15min)

Individual sessions: £75

Weekends: £90 (please enquire about availability)

Home visits: additional fee may apply

Concessions: £65

EMDR therapy: additional fee may apply

Intensive therapeutic programme: £300 per week (minimum four weeks payment upfront, non-refundable)

* Fees may be adjusted depending on time, place, and individual basis. Additional fees may apply for home visits.

Concessions: At AddiChat, we strive to make our service truly affordable. Let us know if you feel entitled to a reduced rate.

Cancellations: We request that you please give at least 48 hours notice if you intend to cancel your appointment. 

Bank transfers, cash and card payments are accepted.
