Ryan Card
Counsellor and Psychotherapist
Specialising in addiction and dual diagnosis including anxiety, mood and personality disorders

Ryan first trained as an addiction counsellor at a private rehabilitation centre in 2006 and has since had over 14 years experience working with addiction and dual diagnosis in a variety of settings including private rehabilitation centres, prison services, charities and NHS community services including specialist addictions services and community mental health teams (CMHT).

Ryan has a BA in psychological counselling, PgDip in occupational psychology and an MSc in counselling psychology. He has undergone additional training in solution focused therapy through Brief training, dialectical behavioural therapy including mindfulness through British Isles DBT training, motivational interviewing and Yalom's model of interpersonal group psychotherapy, and its application in the treatment of addictions, delivered through Bath University.

Ryan is committed to helping individuals to process and understand various emotional and psychological difficulties that may be causing distress. He has experience working with addictions, anger, anxiety, bereavement, bi-polar, depression, personality, obsessions and compulsions, self-harm and trauma.

He works integratively and draws on evidence-based interventions from humanistic and phenomenological paradigms including person-centered approach, cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, compassion focused therapy, psychodynamic and systemic therapy.

 

He is a Member of the British Psychological Society and a Member of the Division of Counselling Psychology. He is also a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. He is also a qualified psychometrist in occupational ability and personality testing using the 15 factor questionnaire plus.

Ryan lives in London with his wife and has two boys. He is an avid golfer and fly fisherman.
